This week on the reality TV show that is my life here, I will discuss some interesting tidbits but will also keep in mind that nobody really cares and everyone just wants to look at pictures. Soo here we go:
The biggest news is that I live in my own apartment now. I moved from my host family into a, umm, quaint? cozy? fixer-upper? little place of my own. Pictures to come right after I complete my first order of business there which is, of course, to acquire a cat (or two).
Over the weekend, I worked at a cancer research fundraiser at a fancy hotel in Tbilisi and boy was that a reminder of how dirty I’ve become. I helped with registration and somehow got assigned to distribute annoying bank forms to auction winners. In the course of the latter job, I had chairs pushed into me (rich people’s way of telling me to go away) and snide remarks made about, well, how much more rich the American attendees were than us lowly volunteers. It was really weird/warranted? The whole event was so fancy-it was like a different world. Anyway that was an experience I guess.
It’s perfect timing actually for my family to come visit (!!!!) and remind me of my also-American-but-not-a-douche roots. My parents and little recently-admitted-to-MIT-so-suck-on-that-mean-auction-people brother arrive on Friday and will stay about a week, making stops in Tbilisi, my PST village of Ikalto, and naturally good ol’ Tkibuli. I’m really excited!
